Hi, sending new pictures from a recent walk with the dogs. Pictures with my new camera came out much better in daylight than at dusk. (Learning how to use the camera before my trip to Africa next month).

Indy is doing great and gaining weight, no longer has prominent bones. I took some pictures of him at the wildlife preserve - he has a WONDERFUL time running full tilt the whole time. He runs so fast that a lot of the images on my camera even on the sports setting are blurred, at least they did when I was taking pictures near dusk today (was too hot earlier in the day for a run). The last one of these would have been a great photo but wasn't well focuses, did what I could to edit it, but you can still see what a fine looking fellow he is. He and SUmmer are still getting along great and still play lots.

Hi,
Sending some pictures of Indy (formerly Jason Morgan) and Summer at play. Even though some of them look kind of fierce, they really were playing, which they do a LOT now (sometimes they don't even want to stop after the lights are out at night). Summer's ears are constantly wet from Indy's saliva these days. Serves her right, as she used to pul Val across the floor by the ear.

News from Morgan's forever home

Jason Morgan seems to be settling in well in his new home, and looks forward to our once or twice a day walks. He's still on the retractable leash and I think will be for a while, as he doesn't really pay much attention to me while we're out, he's so excited and focused on the environment. Will sign up for an obedience class soon to work on that, but he's been great indoors, bonded to me immediately, has quickly picked up the doggie door and no accidents in the house. The first day didn't go too smoothly with him and my golden retreiver, but since then there have only been growling episodes that have not escalated, and overall they seem to be peacefully co-existing, although they have not warmed up enough to start playing together yet. Hopefully that will eventually come along.

He loves to run up and down the yard chasing bugs and birds, and seems to focus mostly on the area with groundcover which also has several trees, since the bugs and birds are more concentrated there. He entertains himself for long periods of time, as long as I am outside too, but if I am inside that's where he wants to be. I am attaching several photos of him at home. Can't take photos on our walks while I have him on a leash, but at some point may have someone come with us to take a few. It's been so hot we may head back to the beach again on Monday (having a summer heat wave currently). I'll keep in touch on how things are working out.

He is settling in pretty well. He is giving Summer kisses and they are starting to play together. He is very avid about going out for our hikes to the point that we have started working on "door" manners, as no one can get out the door without him trying to squeeze through he is so eager to go, and his hopes are up any time I head anywhere near the door to the garage. He has been starting to calm down some on his walks in the wildlife preserve. He has the time of his life, runs like the wind continuously, finds dragonflies or birds to chase and goes leaping through the air. The tail never stops wagging frantically.

He is quite a character. Now that he and Summer are getting along, the biggest challenge we have to work on is his barking, which he seems to do quite a lot of, fortunately mostly in the house so it does not annoy the neighbors. Not sure I am going to make any headway on that one. As far as his name, I have to say I was not terribly fond of Jason Morgan as a dog's name, so I did rename him Indiana Jones (Indy for short) - seemed appropriate with his origins. He knows his new name (he is a very smart boy). He completed a course of a wormer last week, and I think he is starting to fill out a little (his spine doesn't seem as prominent) although he is still a little on the thin side. I will send more pictures when I take some next. Thanks for checking up on him.

Morgan and his stuffies...

We cleared out the dining room and painted it these past days.

Morgan decided that a nice big empty room would make a perfect play room for a setter boy.

So we've been getting a kick out of watching him play.

He's got stuffies and balls strewn all over the room and started flipping items into the air and pouncing on them--before taking a spurt around the room.

Morgan is very playful and to our surprise actually even retrieved some balls outside and brought them back after we've thrown them. Now he wouldn't play this game for hours, but he is getting the hang of how it goes...

As he's been with us for a while now and we've seen how much he's bonded, we realize that he will make a very special fur kid for a family, especially with kids that are 7 years or older.

Take a look at this cutie pie. I promise you won't regret it!!

I've been at my foster home for a few weeks now.

Foster mommy is really impressed that I've slowed down so much.

I'm not as much outside anymore, but love to follow foster mommy and daddy around and lie by their feet.

Of course I still take a lot of turns in the yard as well and chase the ball...

...but I'm a cuddle bug as well!

As you see I'm quite comfortable on the floor as well.

I love to sleep in foster mommy and daddy's bed at night and I cuddle up close.

They don't even have to tell me when it's bedtime---I know and jump right up on the matraze---I'm the first one there!

Ever heard of the term "setter ball"? Well, I know just how to curl up into a tight setter ball and take a good nap.

I wish all of our pups were this well trained.

Just like all the other pups in our house, Morgan looks forward to wing-play time every day.

Hi, this is Morgan. I'm all excited, because I was promoted to "wing man"

My foster daddy plays the wing game (pheasant wing attached to a fishing pole) with all of us. On the first day, I didn't know what the other guys were even doing...I wanted to just run in the yard.

But NOW, all I want to do is play, play, play with that pheasant wing, whenever I get the chance. It's so much fun. Sometimes I catch it and foster daddy has to be a bit patient and wait for me to release it...but can't you blame me for wanting to hold on to the big prize?

I'm always on the lookout for birds---but squirrels are fun too.
I'm taking some time out to rest as well. Here I'm lying by foster mommy's feet while she's on the computer.

As you can tell I need to fatten up a bit. Not that easy it seems. I've got a healthy appetite and am getting an extra portion with every meal, but then I like to run it right back off...
This yard is fun. I can see through the fence at all the cars driving by. When there's a truck, I sometimes chase it and bark.
And those BICYCLES going by!!! I'd just like to run with them and tend to squeal with delight when I see one. I just can't help myself.
However, foster mommy assures me I'm a good boy. I do speak up once in a while, but am overall a quiet boy. I'm also learning the regular people that walk by and don't make a fuss when they walk by.

Casey and Bosco like to go visit people by the fence---so I try that sometimes. I've gotten nice rubs that way already---sometimes though I'm not quite sure if I can trust everybody and don't dare to visit with people going by---I can't help it...I'm a bit shy at times when checking out new things, but it never lasts long.

Now, I'm not JUST an outdoors man!

Don't think I don't appreciate the cozyness of an indoor environment...I LOVE it. And I'm spending more and more time inside. Everybody is surprised, as I wanted to be outside so much the first few days.
I like to follow foster mommy and daddy around. They were first crating me at night and some other times. But I showed them that I'm a good boy in the house. Now I only go into the crate when they leave home, but I get to sleep right on the bed with foster mommy and am a quiet sleeper. All through the night. I LOVE to cuddle---and get my belly rubbed.
I also love a game of ball. I don't even need anybody to play with. I just paw and nose the ball until it rolls away and then chase after it and pounce. It's loads of fun and makes foster mommy laugh quite a bit---so I guess I'm not the only one entertained by the whole thing.
Well, if there's one thing I would change in my foster home, I'd have an elevated water bowl. But it doesn't seem to be happening just yet, so I make due by flopping myself down by the bowl and having a good drink. Foster mommy thinks I'm hilarious--she says I'm hugging the water dish...

Hi everybody. My name is Jason Morgan. I think I'm about 2 years old (I was so small when I was born...I just don't remember exactly) and everybody tells me I'm a sweet boy. I got lost and suddenly found myself in a big place with lots of other dogs. I think it's called a shelter. I was so glad when a family came and adopted me, but then suddenly they brought me back to the same place as before... I guess I was too lively for them. Well, I do like to be running outside in the yard a lot---but I thought I'm a birddog and that's what I'm supposed to do. I'm very confused.

But I think it's Kismet that I'm back at the shelter. Because they told me that Illinois Birddog Rescue is coming to pick me up and they will find me the forever family I'm destined to be with. I'm all excited now.
